I’m grateful for…
Milk dumped on the floor… the floor gets washed.
Extra spicy, burnt burritos… a chance to learn to minimize cayenne pepper and a reminder to watch the oven.
A horrible day… climbing into bed and knowing you never have to relive that day over.
Painful slivers under fingernails… sharp tweezers.
Chilly days… baggy hoodies.
A grubby oven… an oven to cook and bake in.
Outdated coffee beans… a wonderful opportunity to practice latte art.
Loads of laundry… a washing machine.
Disobedient children at work… a window into their hearts for us teachers to realize what they are in need of.
Tired toddlers who refuse to nap on their cots… then I get to scoop them into my arms and rock them to sleep.
Trials… growing closer to God
A candle burnt to the end of its wick… I get to buy a new candle!
A reproof… a chance to learn and grow.
My sunflowers accidentally getting tilled up… I get to plant more sunflowers than I had before!
Cleaning a rabbit's stinky litter box… my dear Thumper. I never knew a rabbit could bring so much hoppiness into my life. (get the pun?! ;)
A mountain of dirty dishes after each meal… meals spent around the table with family.
Phone dies… phone-free moments.
Regrets… now, I'm enlightened about what not to do.
On a bike ride, a bike tire pops… I learned how full to pump a bike tire.
Coffee shop milk becomes outdated… it’s excellent for rice pudding!
Calves slyly sneak through the fence… on the way home from the pasture is a perfect time to park and pick wildflowers.
Children who carelessly amble along on walks… I realize I need to stop hounding on them to ‘’cmon, hurry up’’ and instead go at their leisurely pace and breathe in the beauty of the moment.
Hot tea is cold before there’s a chance to drink it… no burnt tongue.
Disappointments…a reminder that God is in complete control.
Soggy socks on a toddler's feet… they always come up with some sort of comical story that explains their soggy socks. Also I'm grateful for the moment when I'm peering into their backpack and joyfully discovering clean, dry socks.
